computer animation (part ii)

Bring your drawings to life. The open-source image manipulation program, GIMP, will be utilized along with each student’s imagination. Students will illustrate their own background and characters, learning how to layer them to tell a visual story that has a beginning, middle and end. Storyboarding, rendering, coloring, editing; every process it takes to make a complete animated film! Watch out, Pixar! (Due to the individual nature of this course, students should consider bringing their own laptop computer if available).
This is the second period of a two period class-combining 3rd and 4th periods. Limit of 12

theatrical visual arts

Do you like the stage but not the acting part. If so, this is totally the class for you.  We will learn the elements of set design such as developing the theme as well as use of materials and techniques. Costumes and makeup will be discussed and possibly used depending on the needs of the show. And for the more adventurous, we will explore basic stage lighting and audio reinforcement. There’s a lot going on here – are you up for it?

paint world

Appreciate the traditions of cultures from around the world while using a paint brush and gobs of paint.  You’ll also learn how to mix gobs of paint.  And then you’ll paint some more.  Did we mention the gobs of paint?

little woodwind studio

We’re on the look-out for the following instruments:  Flutes, Oboes and Clarinets. The little instruments; ones that could almost fit in your pocket. If you play any of these instruments and would like a reasonable challenge, we want you in this class and we don’t think you’ll be sorry that you joined. There will be appropriate parts for everyone. This class will perform in the Concert.

Intermediate Jazz Band

This class is for anyone who wants to learn to play jazz.  Students should have at least 2 years on their instruments and an adventurous attitude.  Beginning and intermediate jazz literature will be covered and there is plenty of opportunity to work on your jazz improvisation chops.  This band will perform at the concert.

Presto Strings                

ItAdvanced repertoire for the advanced player.  Concert selections oriented around those who participate.  This class is for the adventurous player.  Only really exciting, daring, and beautiful pieces will be explored.  Bring your imagination and make suggestions.  Soloists considered. This class will perform in the Concert.
Enrollment is unlimited

R.O.C.K. Band            

Open to Guitar, Keys, Bass, Drums and especially vocals, this class will spell out the logistics of putting together a rock and roll band.  Students are encouraged to be creative and not intimidated, ‘cause whatever it is you do – it’s good because you’re doing it.  Limit of 3 per instrument except guitar. This class will perform in the Concert.
Limit of 6 guitarists

Musical Production – “at the hop"

All students are encouraged to participate in the varied facets of the musical as it will be one of the highlights of the Summer Arts Workshop.  Opportunities exist in every category of the production. This class will perform in the Concert.
